On the weekend of 24 April 2021, Georgia’s northern cities, Stone Mountain and Cumming, were greeted with some stormy weather.

A warning was issued late Saturday afternoon for the two cities by the National Weather Service of severe weather, thunderstorms, and hail passing through the area throughout the day.
The warning was issued as some rain fell in the morning, followed by some warm and unstable conditions.
Buckets of hail were dumped throughout Stone Mountain and Cumming. Some residents recorded quarter-sized hail on their properties.
60 mph wind speeds were also recorded, and people were encouraged to safeguard their cars and property from damage of the hail that was falling in the area.
Hikers planning a trip to Stone Mountain Park were encouraged to reschedule their day’s activities until the weather dried up.
In Atlanta, the baseball game between the Atlanta Braves and the Arizona Diamondbacks was postponed due to the severe weather conditions. The wet weather also resulted in a few collisions occurring on various Atlanta highways.
There were multiple reports of power outages, uprooted trees, and some property damage experienced throughout the Atlanta metro area. A mobile home had been crushed in Lawrenceville by a fallen tree, but luckily no one suffered any injuries.
The trees that had fallen caused some power outages throughout the metro area. The process of removing these trees significantly delayed some neighborhoods getting their power back.
Various neighborhoods also experienced minor flooding.
Severe weather conditions also hit some central and southern states on Friday, 24 April 2021. Tornadoes were spotted in Texas, as well as hail the size of baseballs.
